The same applies to just about anything you’ll do. I realize that only some people are going to go full inbox zero. However, to set yourself up for success with your sobriety, you need to be organized in how you spend your time. No matter what it is, even if you have to catch up on being lazy for a few days, do it in an organized way. Set yourself up for success by being organized in what you are trying to accomplish outside of your sobriety, and the sobriety will become more natural.

I don’t know how I’m going to get through this without https://www.inkl.com/news/sober-house-rules-a-comprehensive-overview drinking. And the answer is, if you feel like it’s all too much, it is. It’s literally too much, so you need to make hard choices that you’ve never made before. And you know, if you dread something or if something is like you have to, propose the experiment like, this year, I’m not going to do X. You will sleep better and have more energy, you’ll look better and feel better.
Slowly I learned that not only could I not do it alone, I didn’t want to. What I do feel is free; free to make my own choices. It may be that I make ones that don’t serve me in the future, but I’m deciding to trust myself to know the difference between having a drink or not having a drink, when the time comes. I wasn’t an alcoholic, just a quick and thirsty drinker (of any drinks) and very sensitive to the effects of sober house alcohol.

MARK GOLD, CEO OF AMATUS HEALTH BIOGRAPHY
Getting sober is a tall task for anyone, but if you can approach it ‘one day at a time’ it gets fucking easier. In March of 2019, the same day I signed myself up to try a sacred plant medicine called Iboga, I stopped drinking once and for all. In the five years since, I’ve learned an awful lot. My doc was both right and wrong about the things he told me all those years ago.
I don’t ever want to stop feeling it. Gillian Tietz is the host of the Sober Powered podcast and recently left her career as a biochemist to create Sober Powered Media, LLC. When she quit drinking in 2019, she dedicated herself to learning about alcohol’s influence on the brain and how it can cause addiction.

Before I quit drinking, I had already spent years thinking about what it would be like to get sober. I had built up sobriety in my head as the solution to all of my problems. I was incredibly egotistic in those days, and I truly thought that with drinking out of my way, I’d become practically a superhuman. Although there’s a thirst for more non-alcoholic beverages, consumers are craving sophisticated and elevated drinks that push the boundaries of a simple juice-and-soda mixed drink.

And she didn’t end up going because her friend’s mom wasn’t going to go. And I was like, literally, I told you it is not happening. And then, the coolest thing was that, other people on this text message of like, let’s say 35 moms, other people started texting and saying, actually, I would love to contribute money, too. And it was people that like work full time and do not have time to be making these dips and all this stuff.
I came to the realization that the most important relationship I have is the relationship I have with myself. I have been single for most of my sobriety. Dating without the ease and comfort that develops over a glass of wine on the first date can be difficult and awkward, and I haven’t found the match I’ve been looking for. I now have a handful of amazing people that I rely on, who, in turn, rely on me and it makes life that much better.
Lessons I’ve Learned in 5 Years of Sobriety
The more time you spend sober, the more practiced you become at handling different stressors without drinking or using. We had a lot of fun together and he. Was like, are you sure you’re not going to drink sometimes or whatever and in terms of like leading them down any mountain. I turned to him and I was like, babe, our family wants no part of where my drinking was headed.
And that is one of the, one of the underlying reasons that, you know, I’m choosing better for myself and for my family. And I think that, you know, we are breaking chains by doing that. I’m not saying that it’s just, they know that that’s not what’s best for me and the people that I have in my life. Now that I’m that I have relationships with want what’s best for me. And so, I think that it would be just basically blowing up my life to go back to that. And then the 3rd thing is, just a story that I had.
It was like, Oh, you know, my husband works with this guy whose wife just went to rehab and she really would like to meet some people that don’t drink. Okay, one of them was like my first sober friend who basically gave me the courage to put it down because I saw her, and I saw how her life was not over because she quit drinking and so she helped me. “I objected to liquor, and when my sobriety milestones enslavement was going full bore, alcohol was my closest companion and dearest friend. I had no room in my life for any other individual by any means, and the entirety of my connections was a finished wreck subsequently. My better half left me, my children wouldn’t converse with me, and I had no companions I could converse with. Essentially, I was closed out,” he says.
